New York Magazine: Atlantic Yards Play Approved
Great to see that Brooklyn at Eye Level, the play based on the voices around Atlantic Yards, got some highbrow approval in the matrix this week.

4th Avenue: Traffic Control

A piece of NYC street furniture that makes clicking sounds at the zebra crossings.
4th Avenue: Tree

I was pleased to see this still standing in amongst the development on 4th Avenue.
Oliver Postgate, creator of Bagpuss dies at age 83
Oliver Postgate, the creator of my two favourite childhood shows, is sadly no longer with us. Steve Busfield has a sweet round up of Oliver's work in The Guardian today. Softly paced, warm and magical, Bagpuss, voted best TV animal of all time, and The Clangers were the two shows that the infant BIB would most love to be transported away by.
These first two clips make up the "Ship in the Bottle" episode of Bagpuss. At the end of every episode Bagpuss would give a big yawn and fall to sleep, then all the talking, singing and dancing toys would revert back to their silent, motionless state.
Here is a sample of the Clangers, where Tiny Clanger is given the gift of music
by the Iron Chicken. Watch out for the unruly Soup Dragon, she's hungy.
8 Bit Brooklyn

Blip Festival 2008, took place this weekend at the Bell House. 8 Bit Music is where "Archaic game and home computer hardware is recast into the unlikely role of musical instrument...". I managed to catch sets from Nullsleep and Cow'p (above).

Brooklyn At Eye Level: Opening Night

Last night the Lyceum was full to capacity for the first public performance of the Atlantic Yards inspired production.
UPDATE: At the show I met Norman Oder from Atlantic Yards Report. who this morning wrote: "it's well worth seeing".

The image above was taken at the rehearsal earlier in the day.
